Photography is my escape from my day job, where I run a busy research lab at the University of Nottingham (I don't where green tights and I'm neither Robin Hood nor the Sheriff..!).

Taking photos has been my hobby for about 20 years, on and off. It's a great excuse for me to get outside and enjoy landscape, wildlife and natural history in the UK and abroad. I've become more serious about photography recently... partly due to a patient and tolerant wife, and partly due to the inspiration of going on workshops with a couple of fantastic professional photographers. With Paul Goldstein I traveled to Kenya for big cats and to Spitsbergen for polar bears, while I had the opportunity to travel around Scotland with the fantastic landscape photographer, Colin Prior.
