Vincent Monsonego
Drag to set position!
My name is Vincent Monsonego,
I was born in 1983 in Israel.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design (Finished with great honours) from New Bulgarian University of Sofia.
As a graphic designer, I’ve worked extensively with high-quality photographic material for advertising. I’ve worked on different projects and styles and worked with images from portraiture to macros and textures, access to such material led me to develop an affection and admiration for high-quality photography.
When I started to travel with my wife I wanted to capture our trips together and so I bought my first camera, a point-and-shoot Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200, It was on June 20th, 2014 and I was 31 years old.
For some reason, my wife was always fascinated by the way I see the world and on our trip to Germany she told me "I wish I could see myself through your eyes."...
It is October 13, 2016, when I really try to take my “first portrait” of my wife (considering DOF, Subject, Shading, Composition etc).
The Panasonic was a decent camera, but it always bewildered me why the photographic material I used to work with as a graphic designer was on an entirely different quality than what I’ve produced (set aside my lack of experience as a photographer).
As a graphic designer I had no profound knowledge and needed none whatsoever in photography per se, but what motivated me to try and improve my photography skills was my wife, in ambition that I could one day reach a level that what I shoot - is as close as possible to the way “I see her” (I'm still far from being able to capture her full beauty).
When my wife informed me that we got pregnant I’ve decided it’s time to take it more seriously. After struggling with the Lumix It was finally on November 16th 2016, when I “gave up” or more accuratly, “stepped up” and decided to buy my first DSLR, Canon 80D.
On December 26, 2016, at 9:56 AM, my son, Dorian was born.
On December 28, 2016, at 7:18 PM, I’m taking my first “good photo” of my newborn boy.
I was astonished by the difference between a DSLR to point-and-shoot and the potential flashed before my eyes, and so on January 7th 2017, I’ve sold my 2-month-old Canon 80D in order to fund my way to a full frame DSLR.
On January 16th 2017, I’ve bought my Sony α7RII.
From that day onward my passion for photography is ever-growing - like my love for my beautiful wife and son. As my love is expanding and as I get to know them better and admire each part in their lives, so does my passion for all aspects of photography.
