The older I get, the more I realise just how mediocre my photography is. I like to think I have an artistic eye and learned that photography should be fun and not held back by strict rules of composition. Rules are there for the guidance of people and blind adherence of fools.

My first SLR, was bought in 1970 and soon a darkroom was set up. The digital revolution won me over in 2003. Three Nikon DSLRs plus a Fujifilm Mirrorless camera and two compacts later I remain steadfastly in love with photography.

I live in Liverpool, a city that is vibrant and unique. It can both infuriate and delight me. I stay clear of overtly political images. What I take is what attracts me and/or tickles my sense of humour. Second life I’m sure is very clever but I don’t feel it floats my boat. AI reminds me of cosmetic surgery. If it’s obvious it’s failed in my opinion. Yes, I really am getting old!

I’m a life member of CAMRA, and also a member of RSPB and BN. I love watching the birds in my garden. The Campaign for Real Ale did a fine job for maintaining cask beer availability and quality. They enabling independent brewers of fine beers . BN (British Naturism) is a members organisation with both individual and organisation members. It promotes the awareness of naturism in the United Kingdom. Nudism came into our lives many years ago and enduring friendships sprang from this beautiful and wholesome way of life. Everyone should try a nude swim once!

At this point, I feel the need to advise that some of my studio, domestic and holiday images contain non-sexual nudity. There is no porn at all in my images.

Comments are very inspiring, and encouraging. I try to comment on the images I like here too. There are so many!

I have known a few now who have passed away sadly.

I remember dear ones lost, and cherish those who are still with us.

This was brought into incredibly sharp focus for me on New Years Eve 2021. My life will never be the same again.

One reason for pressing the shutter release is to preserve memories. That I have managed. Not finished yet!

Finally, thank you for taking the time to read this. Even more if you stayed awake to the end!

Rod.

The End, but not quite.

G’Day Rod. I enjoy the sculptors of your extensive photographic selection. With an incredible, glorious psychedelic B&W and colored paradise, in magical light. Your pictures are all taken with a lot of thought and feeling, very impressive photo-stream, its a total pleasure to watch and learn from your work.

I've enjoyed our online chats as well... he is honest, encouraging but with a self effacing sense of humour which is always appreciated. I'm glad to … Read more

It is always a pleasure to browse through Rod's photostream, quality photos of different varieties with a nice touch of humour where appropriate. He always takes time to comment and it is always helped by his walking on some similar ground to us and an appreciation of good beer and pubs. Some excellent commentary of … Read more
