My home:

According to flickr: A mysterious place with no name.

My goal:

To live in human mutual respect and trust. Not to bother the world, but to make the world an even better place to live for future generations.

Why

I saw the ghost behind the door when the children came home from war, with nothing but their broken dreams. In that moment, the only peace I found was in the vision of our beautiful world, framed not by the cold steel of iron sights, but by the gentle curve of a camera lens.

My way into photography

My first camera was a Kodak Pocket Instamatic 200, which I inherited from my older brother back in 1976. This was my only camera until 1986, when I bought my first SLR; a secondhand Pentax K-1000. Later, a Pentax ME-Super was added. My interest in photography waned around 1990 and was not rekindled until around 2013, when I bought my first digital camera; a Samsung NX-11. This did not live up to my expectations in any way.

I invested in several more digital cameras from Pentax. Despite the large investment, it felt like something was missing.

Around 2019, I was introduced to Nikon. Today I own several digital cameras, from the D200 to the Df. In 2022, my interest in film cameras was rekindled. Today I have retired my Pentax K-1000 and ME-Super in favour of the Nikon FG, F3 and F3/T.

In a way, I have come to a creative standstill with digital cameras. With the rediscovery of film cameras, it is as if I have opened up the creative floodgates and rediscovered my calling in photography by using analogue film cameras. It is as if film has a soul that cannot be recreated digitally, but only exists in the grain and structure of the film.
