“I upload monthly.” Lol, that aged terribly.
It has been over a year since I posted, and over a year since I made the proposition on my banner to “redefine the Lego Transformer.” So what happened? Why didn’t I upload any transformers after Perceptor? When I made that banner statement I meant it. Almost immediately after I uploaded my Perceptor, I began brainstorming designs for a transforming skeleton that would deliver on looks, posability, and transformation in a way no Lego transformer I had ever seen had.
I spent a month working on it. And then I spent another month. And then another.
Progress was alright, but every time I made a big step forward, a new problem of stability or solidity would emerge, and a solution would bring another. After I had spent roughly six months trying out designs, the project was becoming more chore-like than fun, and a pretty big headache. I wanted to keep going, but I had other interests that I was finding more joy in, and I had school work to attend to. Then, about two months later, three new Lego Transformer builders popped up: Lego Architect, Student Scissors, and Lego in Disguise. These new Lego Transformer builders are doing what I set my goal to be. They are building G1 styled characters that transform satisfyingly, look good in both modes, and have nice ranges of motion in robot mode.
When I set my goal, there weren’t very many G1 Lego Transformers on par with the quality of say, Chubbybots or Marco de Bon. I had hoped to introduce those standards where I thought they were absent. But now the Lego TF community is getting MOCs of the aforementioned quality at a rate previously unmatched. And with an official Lego Optimus Prime likely on the way, the Lego TF community is about to receive an influx of even more as more people join the community. In short, I don’t think I need to continue my goal anymore. Other people are doing it, and having better luck at it.
I am giving up my title of “Maximum MOCworks” and this account. The point of that title was to boast the innovation I intended to offer in my Lego transformers, but I haven’t been able to offer such. I am not quitting Lego, I still really like the system, but am no longer going to make Transformers my main focus. I may build some, but not with the goal of being something incredibly innovative. They probably won’t transform, in fact. Instead, I will follow whatever project or idea captures my interest.
I had a lot of cool ideas, and I still want some of them to see the light of day, but trying to release dozens on a monthly basis is too difficult a goal for me to effectively reach, and it will be even harder as I start college next year. I am opening a new Flickr account for all future posts that will not attempt to follow any upload plans or schedules. I will drop some obvious hints for you to find it by, and I will still be following all the people I am on this account.
I thank all of you who followed me until now for your support, and interest in my work. I highly recommend you check out the new Lego TF builders I have mentioned:

Many Lego Transformer MOCs, or "Legoformers" are looked upon lightly by fans of Lego, from AFOLs to the Lego mech community. They are only seen as gimmick-MOCs. Most don't deliver very-well in vehicle mode. Several don't deliver very well in robot mode. They only stand to be a transforming robot, and because they are seen as "gimmick-MOCs" most consider that to be enough. No matter how weak the building techniques and designs are, Lego Transformers always seem to get love.
My name is MaxMOCs, and I intend to change this mindset. I see no reason why the time and appreciation that goes into Lego Gundam, Evangelion, and Military mech MOCs cannot go into Lego Transformer MOCs. What makes Lego bricks so amazing is how versatile, and how limitless their possibilities are. Although there are limitations to building Lego Transformers, the abilities of Lego pieces also give it advantages, and I believe such advantages can be utilized to make detailed, well designed Lego Transformers, that will over time, hopefully, give a new name to their presences in the Lego community.
I upload Monthly, and you can expect me to post in the first week of each month. I will also post updates and/or WIP photos in the middle of each month, around the 15th.
