I am an amateur nature photographer who began to get more serious about photography in the Fall of 2018. I mostly photograph birds because the opportunity presents itself more frequently than other wildlife. I will always have some "bird on a stick" and "bird in flight" images because I enjoy them, but I am hoping to get better at using the surrounding habitat to create more appealing images without looking too busy. This has been a goal for a while and I still struggle with it. I have gotten better at adding some uniqueness to my photos by adding surrounding elements like flowers, berries, unique perches or snow. I also try to capture unique perches and poses if I can.

I have a couple photography goals for 2026.

- Get out more in inclement weather to add some mood to my photos.

- Take some photos with the subjects smaller in frame that would look good in a larger print. I don't want a large print with an 18" hummingbird on my wall.
