I was born in Inverness, Scotland, in the mid-1950's but I have lived in several parts of the UK. For the vast majority of my life I have resided in South-East England, and specifically in Sussex since 1994, with my wife, Jane, and son James.

I was trained as a teacher in the 1970's at the University of London. Working in Senior management for fifteen years I aspired to the challenges of Deputy Headship and Headship. Following the loss of my parents just over thirty-five years ago, I reverted to my most gratifying role, as a class-teacher.

My last full-time teaching post was in West Sussex from 2001 until 2012. I retired in 2013 following a period of ill-health and although restricted a little, health-wise, I want to be as active as possible and pursue, amongst other interests, my love for landscape photography.

In my youth, I was a keen footballer at Senior Amateur level and a competent "club"- standard, tennis player.

Since 2005 I have enjoyed walking and hill-climbing in many parts of the UK. Having been trained as a geographer, I have a passion for "landscape." So far, I have specialised in photographing the landscapes of Scotland but I intend to expand my portfolio to include many other scenic areas of Britain and beyond.

The following quote is taken from a novel by Michael Morpurgo, and explains quite well, the mind-set, that inspires me to take these pictures.

A quote taken from page 258 of :-

"Alone on a wide, wide sea" (2006)

by Michael Morpurgo.

(Allie, daughter of Arthur and Zita Hobhouse, is rounding Cape Horn on her single-handed sailing voyage from Australia to England, across both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. For days, inclement weather had blotted out every view. Then suddenly................ )

"........... sunlight broke through the mist and lit the Horn. It set her on fire and all the sea around her too. Never in my life saw anything so beautiful. Don't mind telling you, I had a little weep. It was the joy of just being here at this moment, of being alive.............. .

I love this place so much I almost don't want to leave it, don't want the moment to pass. But moments always pass, don't they? It's passed even as I was writing this. Gone."

May you share in, and enjoy these pictures, landscapes and moments as much as I did, and still do.
