I experimented with a film SLR camera back in high school 10 years ago. I wanted to try something that I had never done before. In the end, it never really took my interest.

My interest in photography began with my knife collecting hobby. I wanted to take great pictures of my cutlery pieces, and all I had was my 3.2PMP Olympus D-560 ( known as the X-250 or C-350 in certain countries). Indoor lighting was extremely difficult to get right with this camera (specular metal didn't help!) and it took a lot of work to get a decent image, but I persevered.

Finally I upgraded in 2008, I bought a Canon SX100 and it was a godsend (bless it's little heart). My interest in photography really kicked off! It was a huge upgrade! I found the image stabilization to be of big help. Prior to this, I had to keep the camera really still on a tripod. Now I find that I could shoot hand-held when taking pictures of my knife collection. I started shooting a lot of macro work with the SX100, mainly insects and bugs I found in the backyard. I also had fun taking pictures of birds with the 10x optical zoom. It was like a newly undiscovered world to me.

Nowadays, I use my Canon Powershot G11 and Panasonic Lumix FZ35. I am mainly a user of bridge cameras. I like to experiment and shoot a bit of everything these days. I take a lot of pictures of Rover (my dog!) and I also like playing around with lights and shadows.
