Hi, I'm Alistair Dougal aka Mile 585 Photography.

Once upon a time I relied totally on big-hitting DSLRs for my photography and it was pretty much all landscape / seascape stuff with long exposures etc (you know the sort of thing!) - frankly, then, I'd have been slightly horrified at (a) using a mobile phone camera and (b) editing / processing to a fairly significant degree.

Then something changed; partly upping sticks and moving to Norfolk UK and, maybe, in some weird way, the onset of Covid and lockdown - it all seemed to mess with my mind a bit!

So, long story short, what you see here are all phone pictures and, predominantly (the Scottish Borders - my roots - and the odd foray into Essex being the exceptions so far), are all taken in my home county whilst I roam here and there with my 2 wonderful Collies seeking out the sort of places and things that I can interpret in some different way from the 'normal' style of photos you may see.

My 'style' has changed fairly massively since January 2020 when I first dabbled with my phone as my go-to camera; partly this has been due to my better understanding of what Snapseed has to offer as my chosen editing tool and partly this is probably due to my own low boredom threshold as I get fed up with doing things one way and so look to come up with something different.

I'm still getting used to how Flickr works and I'm eternally tweaking that pesky 'style' but I really appreciate all those of you who have taken the trouble to look at my pictures and to fave or comment, many thanks indeed. I'm really grateful for the kind things some of you have said.
