My first camera had 'Empire Made' stamped on the bottom and I've no idea what it was, but I took photographs of the animals in the Crystal Palace childrens zoo with it. Eventually my parents got tired of paying for film & processing, and that camera fell by the wayside and has been lost. I got serious about pictures after acquiring a Pentax P30 in the mid 80's, moving to Minolta and Bronica gear, shooting portraits, weddings, landscapes, travel and some industrial stuff. That ground to a halt due to having a family plus moving jobs and locations in 1990, eventually re-starting with a Samsung S850 compact bought for a holiday in Thailand in 2007, then a Sony A58 in 2013, and then a Nikon D610 in 2015. My main camera is now a Sony A7III, and I really appreciate how it just gets out of the way & lets me concentrate on taking the pictures I want.
Although I've mentioned gear, it's strictly a tool to achieve an objective, and while it's fun to have new toys, they don't necessarily help the creative process that much: I prefer to work with stuff I know well and can rely on than new, faster, cooler kit. Someone once suggested to me that it was important to get emotion into my work, rather than just trying to produce the most detailed but sterile images, and I've tried to take that to heart over the last couple of years. Now I mostly shoot landscape, architecture and travel, although I also play guitar in a couple of bands and sometimes take photos when gigging too.
Image development is done using Adobe Lightroom, Nik Silver Efex and On1 PhotoRaw, most work being done in Lightroom, and images only manipulated in additonal software if required.
