Objectives: Students will...

 

- Understand the meaning of hand gestures and standardized hand signals.

 

Activity

 

- Show students hand gesture images and ask the meaning of them.

 

- Ask students if they know of an actual "language" of hand signs that can express all the thoughts and feelings that spoken English does?

 

- Let students express the signal to each other.

 

- Give students plenty of time to familiarize themselves with the finger spelling and signs, perhaps even as a homework assignment.

 

Student Assessment:

 

Students know the meaning of hand signals and how to make those hand gestures.
