Drawn to Asia was setup by illustrator, Paul Bloxham.

After working in the UK for more than 10 years as a visualiser, illustrator and art and design lecturer, in 1997, I joined Voluntary Services Overseas in Laos in Southeast Asia to train local health workers in media production.

At the end of my volunteer placement, drawn to living in a place vastly different to the UK, I stayed in Laos to provide design and training for UN and other international organisations active in the country. For the last decade, I have been based in the World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang, working with businesses and projects in the burgeoning local heritage and tourism industry.

Although I have worked mainly in graphic design, my skills derive from a natural aptitude and passion for drawing. I am particularly interested in drawing from life – that is, observing the subjects first-hand and in the locations I find them. I am now focusing on this – looking at the places and people around me and representing them in ink, graphite and watercolour.
