The Albertine Rift Conservation Society is A conservation and development non-governmental organization founded in 1995 with a mission to enhance biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources through collaborative conservation action for nature and people.
ARCOS operates in the Albertine Rift since 1995 and has programmes that extend in the Africa Great Lakes region and African Mountains. ARCOS is the lead engine for Sustainable Mountain Development in Africa. ARCOS has been championing collaborative conservation actions in the Albertine Rift and beyond, and in 2012 received MacArthur Award for Effective and Innovative Institution. Our areas of interest lie in Biodiversity and ecosystem services, Climate change, Water, Energy and Food Security.
