Ali Hassoun (born 1964) is a distinguished Italian-Lebanese painter with numerous painting exhibits in the past 20 years, mostly in Europe but also in America and the Middle East.
In his paintings, he portrays different cultures across the world to showcase that we live in a global world. His thought-provoking paintings are most known for representing different cultures in bright colors, with scenes of life that exude realism.
In 2010, he was the first Muslim artist to be chosen to design his most prestigious assignment to date, the palio di Siena (the banner and prize of Italy's most sacred and tradition-rich annual horse race) dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the battle of Montaperti at the Courtyard of the Podesta in the Palazzo Pubblico. His design became somewhat of a controversy because it featured Islamic, Jewish and Christian symbols.
