Currently using a Pentax K-7, newly acquired Panasonic FZ200 and an Infrared converted Canon S95 compact. You dont HAVE to have expensive equipment....a reasonably good eye and imagination works wonders!
Starting to re-find the enjoyment in photography that i lost for a while - maybe its because i have realised that just because MY photos DONT look like the ones in all the magazines, it doesnt make me a bad photographer.
Seeing the photos on this site, i now realise i know NOTHING about photography, good pictures or artistic merit!! :( Hopefully i will be able to learn something!
I have used a variety of IR converted cameras over the last few years and can plainly see that i havent mastered the art in the slightest - but hopefully might improve enough to be able to post ONE photo here and think..."YES!". Only time will tell!! I LOVE crowd scenes!! Who are they? Why are they there? What are they doing? Where are they going?!!! Love it!
Equally i have used a large number of ordinary cameras too, with pretty much the same results. It is purely a personal taste - i know many people do NOT like it - but i am quite a fan of the HDR thing (as you can probably see!). Someone once asked me "What makes a good picture?" and, after a long thought i answered "Something that YOU took a photo of because YOU liked the subject, the view, the abstract or whatever, YOU edited it to the way YOU liked it to look and YOU were pleased with it! If you have met all YOUR criteria, then in your eyes, THAT is a good picture! Everyone has different tastes and ideas, that is what makes this the art form it is. It enables people to express themselves in their own way!" (Well that was the short version of the answer!) - Do YOU agree??
