Drag to set position!
I grew up in a tiny village in Bedfordshire called Turvey. Life was great and Turvey proved to be an amazing environment for a child to explore, we walked, ran and played in the countryside, with my Dad in particular taking every opportunity to get us outside. He was a talented footballer, fisherman, golfer and gardener (something of an outdoorsman you might say!) something he would later try and pass on to us all.
We had wildlife at our fingertips, wide open countryside with woodlands, rivers and lakes to explore. My parents still ring me to let me know what is the latest animal they have spotted. One of the last that spring to mind was a Sparrowhawk my mum witnessed fly through their garden at speed chasing a pigeon.
I grew up as one of four children (being the 3rd eldest and only boy!) my parents had got bored/lost interest by the time it came to me, the need to document their childrens life became quickly overtaken by the overpowering need to just get though each day alive. Both myself and my younger sister Dawn still struggle to this day that we are the ones that did not get a book with a lock of hair in, we do not know what our first words were, when our first steps were taken, what our favourite foods were, favourite toy, FAVOURITE FRIEND as you can tell it isn't a big deal to me......
I thought growing up when I hopefully have children this will all change, I will try my best to document as much as possible as often as I could.
Little did I know how this would change things not only for me but also hopefully the future of my family.
