I am an academic at the School of Photovoltaic & Renewable Energy Engineering. In addition to my main role, managing the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics, I run a project for some of our student engineers, called UNSW Énergie Renouvelable Vanuatu (UNSWERV).
UNSWERV students undertake renewable energy (solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, hydro, geothermal, and water supply) projects that are focussed on Tanna Island, Vanuatu. Some travel there with me to implement related projects, such as solar lighting in village aid posts, dispensaries and schools or water supply through solar or hydram pumping and we also do checking and maintenance of existing systems and collect data for future projects.
UNSWERV partners with and is strongly supported by Vanuatu Community Aid.
Supporters include the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan and the UNSW School of Photovoltaic & Renewable Energy Engineering.
