A Sony Photographer
Drag to set position!
I’m an amateur photographer with a deep appreciation for Sony Alpha gear. My journey into digital photography began when my youngest daughter expressed interest in learning DSLR basics. We chose the Sony A57—our first step into the Alpha world—because it supported the Minolta A-mount lenses I’d held onto since my early film days.
Back in the 1970s, I started with a Minolta SRT 101 and later upgraded to the XE-7. While it wasn’t as popular as Nikon or Canon, I loved the feel of those cameras and the quality of their lenses. That experience helped me build foundational skills and a lasting love for photography.
As I explored more advanced features and lightweight options for hiking and remote shooting, I gradually moved through Sony’s lineup—from the A65 and A77II to mirrorless models like the A6300. Eventually, I transitioned to full-frame with the A7RIII and now shoot with the A7RV.
That’s why I call myself “A Sony Photographer.” I enjoy their gear, appreciate the legacy connection to Minolta, and hope others find the same satisfaction. An like the innovation that drives Sony cameras, I am still striving to hone my hobby, so feel free to share tips or feedback—I’m always looking to grow.
The photo you see here is a self-portrait—me enjoying a Pacific sunset. It’s a quiet moment that reflects the joy I find in this hobby.

LG Matthias
