My name is Kaya and I’m a 25 year old grad student at Green Mountain College online whilst I continue to reside in my hometown along the seacoast of New Hampshire. I am the proud “mama” of a Redbone Coonhound dog named Stella and a black cat (born on Halloween!) named Marceline “Marcie”. You may be able to find some pictures of both of them within my works as time goes on.

I am using this platform to display my evolving photography skills, especially within the wildlife field. My goal is to work in the wildlife research field and photography will be one of the most pertinent skills to obtain to portray an individual subject in a most accurately respresentative way to the species in general.

My love for photography has always been prominent, but I will be up front and say that I have never really taken the time to study photography and get deep into the subject. I have never taken a course on photography or pursued it in any other way than taking personal pictures of nature, pets and family. My sister is a professional photographer (shooting mostly portraiture shots for professional shoots, weddings, baby announcements, etc.) so I guess my interest has been lived vicariously through her. I look forward, however, to sharing my journey in actually learning about this art with those of you who are on board! Welcome, by the way!

All shots will be taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR (which is probably classified as a mid-range starter DSLR, but is the best I have to date). Perhaps if the interest becomes more and more, I will invest in an even nicer camera in the future.

I also have a tripod and a double-zoom/telephoto lens that I will be experimenting with and will be looking at other lens types in the near future. I hope you enjoy my adventures as seen through my eyes!
