Fearless Collective
Drag to set position!
We believe given the ugliness of oppressions we fight, the creation of beauty is an act of resistance
Fearless Collective ia a South Asia based public arts organisation, started in 2012 by Indian artist Shilo Shiv Suleman as a response to the Nirbhaya protests in India. The work of Fearless Collective is to turn up at moments of fear and trauma and make space for collective imagination, creative thinking, social discourse and beauty amidst crisis and emergency. We have been at the frontline of crucial moments of resistance in South Asia, including Shaheen Bagh in 2020 and most recently at the Gotagogama protest site in Sri Lanka in June 2022.
We work with communities of women and marginalized and misrepresented people to reclaim and transform public spaces by creating art and beauty as a way of exploring contemporary social justice issues. To date, Fearless has created 40 murals with communities in 16 different countries. We create alternative people-led narratives that engage personal histories, cultural and political realities, and tell stories of universal strengths. We are a movement of participative art that replaces fear with trust, creativity and collective imagination in public spaces.
Fearless is fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit in USA, and accepts donations, grants and institutional partnerships and support.
