"Art is the proper task of life." --Friedrich Nietzsche

Todd Macon is a portrait and site photographer based in Durango, Colorado. He often uses vintage film cameras and darkroom processes to create images that project a sense of timelessness. His favorite vintage cameras include a Hasselblad 500c, Mamiya RB67 ProS, Rolleicord Vb, Graflex Auto RB 4x5, Kodak Retina IIIC, and the Leica II and M2.

Photography was a new discovery for Todd after a career as teacher, but using cameras to capture the people he admires and the landscapes he loves quickly grew into a passionate endeavor.

"I love the thrill that comes with a well-made image, and then presenting and sharing the image with the subject. I would like the people I photograph to feel that the image belongs in a museum--that their efforts, persona, and humanity are worthy representations of the best of us."

"I have drawn great inspiration from the landscapes, light, and people of the American desert Southwest. Recently, I have found new inspiration in portraiture."
