I am retired and have been since 2005. I did many different things in my working life from retail to medical to engineering. I spent my last fifteen working years as an independent technical writer. Most of my writing had to do with industrial gas and cryogenic equipment.

I am part of a family of photographers. My two brothers both shoot. One sells stock. My son is a commercial photographer and has been since he graduated from high school in 1991. He works with John Sterling Ruth Studios. They work for national and international clients, Volvo Trucks North America, Musinex, Tractor Supply are some at the top of the list. Keeps the kid hopping. It was a big help having a photo family when I got serious about shooting when I retired.

I shoot mainly Canon and have played around with the Fuji X100 series and the little Sony RX100M6. I prefer the ergonomics of the Canon DSLRs.

I have five cats so they make up a significant portion of my shooting.

My favorite work is close-up moving toward macro. I have a number of very nice macro lenses but also shoot with the other lenses with diopters and extension tubes. I also do a good bit of bird and small mammal imaging.

I enjoy trying different approaches and playing with image making. My mobility has suffered significantly since I retired so much of my imagery is from home or close to home.
