Living in the Crossing House at Shepreth for my formative years I naturally developed an interest in railways. After getting a degree in Biochemistry I opted for the obvious career path.... Crossing Keeper at Sawston,Signalman at Shepreth Branch Junction followed by covering most signalboxes between Lakenheath and Newport. I then moved onto Kings Cross PSB from where I got parole and covered various Control positions under Railtrack / Network Rail retiring in 2010. The vast majority of photos in my work area were taken whilst on duty and the viewpoints would not be allowed today!!! My camera was an OM10 and there was an element of grab a shot whilst doing my job. No time for playing with exposure etc and none of then new fangled digital stuff and it was guess what the traction would be. Newer pictures are by a Nikon D3100 without anything fancy ... I now regret not taking pictures a few years earlier but wouldn't have been able to pay for the film and costs so the pictures prior to 1974 are mainly taken by my parents....All those Baby Deltics which got away!!!!!
