This �27� Daycruiser� built by Covey Island Boatworks using composite wood/epoxy methods to Ted Brewer design no. 41 for Mrs. Mary Harper . The specification below is for a complete, 'ready for sea' boat.

CONSTRUCTION: All structural wood is kiln-dried ( below 15% moisture ), no. 1 grade, and is sealed, laminated and sheathed with 2-part marine epoxy.

 

PLANKING: 1" strip plank, Douglas Fir

SHEATHING: 2 layers of 9 ounce bi-axial E-glass set in epoxy outside

1 layer of 9 oz. bi-axial E-glass set in epoxy inside

SHEER CLAMPS: 1 1/4" sided x 2 3/4" moulded

BACKBONE (KEEL): 4" sided x 2" moulded

FLOORS: 1 1/2" sided

SOLE FRAME: 1 1/2" X 2" at 16" on centre

DECK BEAMS : 1 1/8" sided X 1 3/4" moulded, 12" on centre

DECK LAYUP: 2 layers 9 ounce boat cloth set in epoxy over

1 layer 1/2" thick Douglas Fir plywood

COCKPIT WELL: 1 layer 9 ounce boat cloth set in epoxy over

1 layer 1/2" Douglas Fir plywood

 

FINISH: Exterior painted white, semi-gloss in 2 part epoxy paint

Deck to be non-skid, beige colour

Spar to be aluminium, not painted

Interior bulkheads to be built of marine plywood, painted w/ oil base enamil to Owne colour

Interior trim, doors, drawers, sole, etc. to be pine finished w/ oil

Countertops are finished in 'Arborite'.

 

STEERING: 2 helms, manual &;Capilano; hydraulic

Vetus bow thruster w/ control at outside helm

Autohelm autopilot w/ 12 volt dc reversable pump
