I am currently studying Fine Art at A level. I enjoy being able to express myself through Art and the freedom that comes within this particular subject area. The practical and creative aspect of Art is something that I have always felt passionate about and which I have an ability for. As part of my Fine Art studies I have used every opportunity to develop costume within my work; exploring 1920s themes with drapery and make up. I use make up to create drama in my photography, which I then transfer to larger scale drawings. I do not shy away from creative challenges and I am not afraid to explore new materials and scales within my work. Being an extremely creative individual has inspired me to become a special effects makeup artist. From a young age I have been particularly enthused by the special effects makeup and costume area of theatre and film, I am interested by the way in which appearance can be completely transformed through this type of art. Although I am especially interested in the makeup aspect of the course, I am also looking forward to building on my skills in the hair and costume areas. On successful completion of the course, it is my aspiration to find employment as a special effects makeup artist, working in TV, Film and Theatre and / or work for companies that specialise in special effects makeup and prosthetics.
