For my 14th birthday I was given my first SLR camera - a trusty Practika MTL5. This sparked a new interest and between then and my mid 20's I'd travel the length and breadth of the country and go on to take thousands of pictures, initially colour prints but then transparencies too. Most were of the changing railway scene around the UK, although with an interest in architecture and industrial history, these subjects featured too. In time the MTL5 jammed up and was replaced by a less capable Vivitar and then an MTL3. More recently a second hand Nikon D50 has produced much more satisfying pictures although I don't take anywhere near as many photos as back then.
What you see here is the ongoing scanning of that past collection - some good and some not so good - but all presentable considering the fairly basic equipment I had and pocket money that sometimes only stretched to poorer quality film! Some that I thought at the time of a good quality have turned out in the scan to be disappointing, whereas others have completely surprised in their new digital format. So here they are - for their subject matter mainly rather than composition - along with selected more recent shots. Enjoy.
