40 something y.o. that has finally come to realize that life is too short...too short to continue fighting what I have known to be true since I can remember. I have accepted the fact and began my journey. I do not ask for others to be able to understand or accept my position but only to accept and understand the fact that I understand and accept my position.

I have a long ways to go and am looking for others on a similar journey for sharing, support and friendship.

This past year has meant so much to me. I have learned so much about myself and others and, more than I could have ever imagined, it has been such a positive experience. As I take the journey of allowing my true self to come into being, I have decided the name most appropriate for me is Jessica Nicole Wells. The name Wells is my great-grand mother’s maiden name. As a child, Granny, was my best friend. Time spent with her was full of endless love and security. The uneasiness I felt as a child, the knowing that I was different, was always there however time with Granny made it more bearable. I truly believe she would have been the one person I could have confided in as I grew older and understood what I was going through. Unfortunately she passed before any of that could happen. This is the one way I feel I can pay homage to her. I will wear the name proudly.
