Ill-disiplined, impatient, untrained, lazy. These are my good points and I won't bore you with all the bad stuff. There is a huge difference between seeing what looks great in other people's pictures and doing something worthwhile yourself. My attitude is to study what impresses me about the work of others and hope some of it washes off. The law of averages says that one day, if I take enough shots, I will luck into something that could be half-decent.
It's not so much that I give up easily, it is more that at my age, with various pursuits over many years I have experienced little result for massive effort and I therefore have to say it is unrealistic to have expectations of an improvement in my skill level. I only have luck left open to me. You still need luck even if you are immensely talented because in all forms of art, luck and influence trumps everything else.
Loser mentality? No, just an honest observation of the way the world works. No "poor me" syndrome here. I enjoy taking pictures and recognition would be great, but it isn't necessary. However, I am very grateful to those who are following me and who comment and fave. I feel I haven't done anything interesting enough to warrant it but go ahead, you be the judge. For my part I love seeing how new and unusual good photographers can make their work look, and that's exciting enough for me.
