My Dad had an Exakta VX SLR in the 1960s with gleaming Schneider lenses. It was the most precious thing he owned. It was heavy and precise and the case gave it a rich leather scent. He taught me about the relationship between aperture and shutter speed and depth of field. I practiced taking pictures of the Great Northern trains that rumbled past on the mainline through Everett, WA. Dad helped me build a darkroom in the basement and showed me how to mix chemicals and develop negatives and make prints. Thanks Dad.
