With the over sensualisation of the saturated world of media, Bethany Sullivan questions whether she has the ability to think for herself or relies on modern society to do the job. Influenced by the conflicts of marxism and inspired by philosophers/sociologists Jean Baudrillard and Plato, Sullivan embellishes and transforms herself into both imaginary and fame-hungry characters as a way of remaining young and true to herself. These are then documented by videos or live performances and again, thrive off of the public's reactions as a way of progression within her practices. By achieving this, Sullivan questions the reality in which we live in and that by becoming these characters in order to portray different sides to her, is Sullivan becoming more authentic than the real itself.
