With the first check from my first real job I went over to the now gone Valley Camera in North Hollywood and plonked down everything for a 35mm Vivitar 250SL w.50mm.
Being an okay shooter who owned his own 35mm got me a job as a location scout, which lead to working in films, which allowed me to travel the world and shoot pictures. As I worked my way up, or sideways, I watched some of the greatest cinematographers, gaffers, assistants and stillsmen work. Along the journey I've been able to have amazing discussions about light, compositions, lenses and techniques that would otherwise never have happened, from amazing people I would otherwise have never met. So worth the price of admission and not nearly over yet!
What's posted here are a broad base of frames from my travels and adventures, life, work and play. Sometimes I go out with a concept and sometime I just stick a camera in my bag and try to see differently. Posting here is part of pushing myself to shoot more and shoot better. As I continue this experiment I'm trying to dig back in my archives and post some of the older, ahem... 'vintage' shots. That oughta be interesting!
I've shot or worked with every type of film and digital camera, motion and stills. My own rigs have included 35mm SLRs, (Vivitars, Mamiyas, Nikons F's & F3's), Hasselblad500c, Fuji 690iii, and Digital (Leica, 5D's & Lumix).
Having said all that, I still feel like most of my pics are glorified snaps or amateur+, so blame the student not my mentors and feel free to comment!
Cheers
