This page showcases my novice foray into the world of #SecondLife photography. I upload a lot of versions of the same thing because I'm still learning. My avatar is basically the only model I know (the fact Black Dragon's poser only works on your own avatar for now also means that at this stage it's what I have to work with). Any constructive input is invited - I'm no fragile snowflake. My goal is to draw out as much humanity as possible from the avatar; that while the pixels may give away its synthetic origin, its expression will leave you to wonder. Goals for animals and landscapes are similar. I do not do pr0n, but I also will not shy away from the genuinely artistic and tasteful in the classical sense. It's just an avatar. An avatar is clay and we are the artists. At the end of the day, it's not complicated.

So this page remains mostly autobiographical in nature. I don't know a lot about the mechanics of making truly moving photos in SL yet and by the low interaction, I'm guessing I still have a long way to go, but it's fun. Post-processing is practically non-existent for me. What you see for the most part will be what I can do with lighting and angles and the tools available to my viewer. So this won't win any contests any time soon but as a creator, it is cathartic to create, as others in this community know.

I am dealing with advanced kidney disease. It is an aggressive form of FSGS (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis) that if not stopped gives me but a few months before dialysis, transplant, or going home. (Update: The meds are kicking butt and I'm back to 1/3 functionality and basically between stage 3 and 4. Not everyone is this fortunate, though, so please do consider supporting the National Kidney Foundation because people have dreams they need to live.) SL photography has given me a moment to reflect on myself and the worlds I seemingly stand between today awaiting my seating assignment. I admit I'm not very good at it but it's therapeutic. The photos are at times deeply reflective but hopefully with some roots in the classical arts. Amidst this deep reflection as I ponder this world, my health, and this avatar, you may encounter series featuring an unencumbered form - this is occasionally necessary for artistic expression, as has been the case throughout the ages. It is not intended to be vulgar, crude, or crass, but purely classical, emotive, and even of intellectual worth (think physiology and health). This, after all, is about the fate of my real life avatar and where the soul that resides inside will call home not very long from now.
