AFRIEL (Association for Friendship and Love), established in October 2013, is a volunteer network based in the north and east of Sri Lanka with thousands members, striving to activate citizens in the post-war society for promoting human rights and good governance.

AFRIEL is the name of angel of youth. Trust between each other has been eroded in the war-torn areas in Sri Lanka after nearly 30-year of killing. As the full name of AFRIEL, we encourage youth in the post-conflict areas to restore trust in their communities through extending friendship and love to their neighbours and supporting them to solve their day-to-day life issues.

Today, AFRIEL has become the main network which provides human resources for national-level organizations for various types of activities in the Northern Province. The wide geographical range covered by AFRIEL volunteers creates our high mobilization capacity. AFRIEL wishes itself a leading role to activate post-conflict society and to create a moral for youth coming forward and fighting for a better society.
