Confession

For several years I've owned a second-hand, entry-level DSLR. I dreamt of making stunning photos, assuming a good camera was all that was required. How wrong I was. Not understanding even the basics of photography, I ended up carrying a heavy camera to far-away places, shooting poor quality JPEG-images in auto-mode... Demotivated, my camera soon started collecting dust, as my holiday photos were being shot through the lens of a mobile phone.

Then someone suggested I buy a compact camera. Sound advice, but it hit a nerve. Deciding I would not be that person, I began to invest in the original dream instead. I dusted off the old DSLR and began practicing the basics, reading the blogs and subscribing to newsletters and Youtube channels.

It has been a pretty rewarding decision. Sure, the motor of my kit lens broke and my Canon EOS 1200d started giving me all sorts of weird errors, which led me to invest in a new body and lenses. Nothing really fancy: I upgraded to a Canon EOS 700d and collected a modest set of (mostly second hand) lenses. And it has been worth it! I'm no doubt still a very poor photographer, but I greatly enjoy exploring the world through a lens, play with the settings and day-dream about my next photo-project.

I also opened a Flickr-account to post my first baby-steps in the world of photography. Can't imagine anyone actually seeing it, but if you do: hope you like it!
