Hi, thanks for visiting.
I live on the edge of the Peak District and the South Pennines in West Yorkshire, England. I’ve always been interested in birds (and other wildlife) but I only started photographing them in late 2015, after I retired. There I was sat in the Bittern Hide at RSPB Old Moor absolutely mesmerised by a hovering Kingfisher and when a couple of guys with cameras showed me the images they had captured I knew from that moment on that photographing birds and trying to capture special moments like this was something I wanted to do ….. I just had no idea then how wonderfully addictive it would become!
If you take the time to view of any of my images, leave a comment or fave, thank you it is very much appreciated. It also inspires me to improve my photography, as do the many wonderful images of wildlife I see here everyday on Flickr. I like to think that by sharing our images of the beautiful, yet fragile, natural world around us, we are all doing our little bit to help protect it …. by showing what we will lose if we don’t.
"Birds were flying from continent to continent long before we were. They reached the coldest place on Earth, Antarctica, long before we did. They can survive in the hottest of deserts. Some can remain on the wing for years at a time. They can girdle the globe. Now, we have taken over the earth and the sea and the sky, but with skill and care and knowledge, we can ensure that there is still a place on Earth for birds in all their beauty and variety - if we want to - and surely, we should”. Sir David Attenborough.
