"how you ain't gonna never be slow, never be late?"...Avon Barksdale
it's been said, a drowning sailor sees his whole life pass before his eyes...that's what this is.
so you can forget the milk, but you better not go out and then come back without a picture.
an amateur who makes snapshots, comes to the camera after fifty years earning a living with a brush...having no rules for depiction, but seeking images that transcend the variant of medium...my tools are those which can be identified by the marks they make, with the exception of the lens.
what has held true for me in painting has proven especially true when using a camera...on points of style, it is useful to employ the conspicuous frailty.
the photos here are made from where i live and where i go and what i see along the way. much of this work having been shot in the st. johns district of n.portland...existential bits and pieces with wabi sabi rendered in chiaroscuro...my proof of life posted in sets of three daily.
it needs saying,
there's not a gravel road, rail bed, nor lost highway she won't drive down at speed, and without ruth behind the wheel, I would have missed many of my best pictures...best getaway driver I ever worked with...best best.
if I have learned only one true thing, a successful gambler always considers the uses of uncertainty.
in the end, I would also like to say, failure is only half of the work of it. the other half is what earns back the privilege to do it again tomorrow.
at an age when i have now to forget some old things so that I might learn a few new things. this takes up most of my day, sorry if i can't remember your name.

I like to travel in R Chorneau's environment, which he shows with a very characteristic and consistent style. Besides, I appreciate what I would call his "sociological" approach. I take his photo stream as a testimony,
C'est une galerie très spéciale. Je n'affirme pas que j'aime tout. Mais elle témoigne d'un regard intelligent, très critique mais en définitive sympathique sur l'humanité. Cet univers sombre est beau. N'est ce pas l'essentiel ? It is a very special gallery. I am not claiming that I like everything. But it bears wit… Read more
C'est une galerie très spéciale. Je n'affirme pas que j'aime tout. Mais elle témoigne d'un regard intelligent, très critique mais en définitive sympathique sur l'humanité. Cet univers sombre est beau. N'est ce pas l'essentiel ? It is a very special gallery. I am not claiming that I like everything. But it bears witness to an intelligent, very critical but ultimately sympathetic look at humanity. This dark universe is beautiful. Isn't that the main thing?
