I've been a photographer for over 45 years. I started by borrowing my father's German 35 mm camera from the fifties which had nothing automatic about it at all. He suggested I keep notes of my exposure settings so that I would learn how to properly expose the film. I did, and I also used the guide on the side of the film boxes. My first camera was an Olympus 35SP rangefinder. After a couple of years I "graduated" to a Minolta srT-102 SLR with 3 prime lenses... 50/1.7, 35/2.8 and 135/2.8. That was all I had for several years but I was able to borrow additional lenses from time-to-time and gradually built up my own collection. Fast forward to the early auto focus days... Minolta changed their lens mount to accommodate auto focus but I couldn't afford to ditch my manual focus lenses so I ignored the auto focus trend. Next came digital cameras. My first digital camera was a Sony DSC H-1 with 5MP sensor. I still have it and it still works just fine. Now I have a Pentax K200D and a Pentax K-1 and an embarrassing number of lenses.

I take pictures mostly for my own interest and enjoyment but also for family get togethers and vacations. My favourite type of photography is macro. I also enjoy nature photography. Most challenging for me is photography of people, especially candid portraits. I would like to do street photography too.

I have had a deep Christian faith in God a little longer than I have been a photographer. I see the creative and sustaining hand of God in macro and nature photographs that I capture. I hope others see it too.

Thanks for visiting me on Flickr. Cheers!
