Photographer, Musician, Road Tripper, Good Food and Friends

By day I sit behind a PC drawing up landscape architecture projects. My main passion in life, though, is photography and a close second is playing guitar and recording my own music (actually, these two straddle the line back and forth).

I've been pursuing photography as a serious passion since 1990 when I discovered Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell whose nature photgraphs stopped me in my tracks. I then bought a used Nikon F3, a couple of old lenses and picked up a cheap darkroom kit which I setup in my apartment closet and literally went to the woodshed to teach myself the craft of making a fine, fibre-based print. Along the way I started shooting colour slide film and spread myself out photographically while educating myself in other art forms. I also travelled a bit to open my eyes to the world. All along I'd been playing guitar in various bands but found photography a better way to express myself.

The advent of digital photography and the purchase of a Canon G2 in 2003 opened up more doors than I could have ever imagined regarding creativity and the production of my photography. My great passion for the medium continues to this day.
