I am a retired teacher and mortgage banker. I enjoy taking courthouse pictures and covered bridge pictures. I have completed 14 states and have a few states (New York, Virginia &Florida) with less than ten remaining county courthouses to photograph. In addition to courthouses, I have photographed all authentic/historic covered bridges in New England, Delaware, and Maryland, and all but two in New York. There are a couple of new bridges that have World Bridge Numbers, but don’t meet the historic requirement of fifty years, that I have not gotten to in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

I have organized my albums in an order that makes sense to me. (Sometimes there is a delay in organizing when new albums are created as I have to get on the laptiop in order to move them around), There are groups such as places, historic parks, covered bridges, architectural types, courthouses, historic signs, and building types which follow historic buildings albums. Lately, I have been revisiting bridges in New Hampshire and Maine and discovering older courthouse buildings that I missed earlier on in my travels. I also like to take pictures of state historic signs, (although not every single sign I see, because I would never get to my final destination in a timely manner). Ultimately, I would like to have a photo of at least one courthouse in every state. I have visited a few states that pre-date my photography hobby, but I am more than halfway there (37). States I have visited, but do not have a courthouse photograph are: Washington (hotels & a walkaround in 2005 before the hobby started), Utah (train), Indiana (train), Iowa (a couple distance photos from the train and a couple of get out stops), Mississippi (predated the hobby), and Louisiana (same). I have completed 15 states for county courthouse pictures with Virginia being the most recent.

I have moved many of my pictures into new albums, as some albums were huge. I have created state albums for some categories and regional ones for others. I also copy many my photos onto Pinterest boards, but not as frequently as I have in the past. I have taken an interest in older buildings like post offices, downtown structures, movie theaters, old houses, and old signs. Properties listed on The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) are also a new focus. My travel blog site is listed below; however, I am somewhat behind in my posts. I have taken some long trips since March 2023 that are not all included as of yet.

I have visited more than a quarter of the county courthouses in the country (975) and over 250 covered bridges. I have added other buildings and historic signs when I can. Not every sign I see or post office I pass gets a stop, or my primary goals (courthouses & covered bridges) would be diluted. The same is true with historic buildings. Most, but not all I photograph, are in shire towns. The same with downtown shots. My hope is that people will see places they know or remember, and that a smile will come to their faces.
