Been a keen amateur photographer since 1981, got my first camera in 78 but the bug fully hit me in 81, had a host of camera's in my time from 35mm, 6 x 4.5, 6 x 7 & now digital.
Did an HNC in photography back in 82 to 84, this was back in the days of film when we all had to be very economical with the shots we were taking, my 35mm camera took either 12, 24 or 36 exposure film cartridges & my medium format cameras used 120mm roll film which was 6x4.5 with 15 exposures & my 6x7 camera was able to take 10 exposures. Also the ASA (yes in the days before ISO LOL) rating had to be considered when purchasing film unless we used the HP1 or HP2 B&W films which was the C41 colour development process where we were able to select different ASA ratings for each shot much like digital now, a total breakthrough at the time.
Had my own darkroom (an LPL 7700 colour enlarger) back in the 80's where I would cut my B&W film, load into cartridges, develop the film then expose this onto the photograph paper with developer, stop & fix chemicals, my paper of choice back then was Ilford "Multi Grade" which was used in conjunction with filters to create the effect of matt, silk or gloss paper , a breakthrough at the time for developing prints, the red light would give me blinding headaches but I enjoyed seeing the images develop.
For editing, In the past i've used Photoshop elements, Lightroom then Nikon NX1 but I now use Capture One for my digital image processing, love this software as it's just exactly what I need to enhance the images that I love, like all photographers its a case of what is the perfect fit for us all & our styles, we all get that, if your comfortable using a particular software then no-one has the right to try to change or influence your choice.
Photography isn’t just a hobby for our fraternity it’s a passion, from capturing a moment in time & visualising how a finished image would look after processing on the many photo editing softwares out there.
Thank you so much for visiting my Flicker page, I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did while taking them.
