The photographer for these images was the late Dr. Darrell Clayton Crain Jr. (1910-1995), a rheumatologist, author, numismatist, Army veteran, and lifelong resident inside the Capital Beltway.

Dr. Crain was my grandfather. In early 2015, I began the process of digitizing his original Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides using an Epson Perfection V500 scanner. I posted the images to be shared here on Flickr, adding any information provided by his handwritten notes.

Dr. Crain's heirs and I donated the original slides, jpg files, and associated copyrights for most of the images posted on this Flickr account to the DC Public Library in June 2015. The exception is the set of photos in this Flickr account's "1950 Trip With the U.S. State Department" album. In March 2016, we donated the 1950 Trip slides, jpg files, and associated copyrights to the Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, Missouri.

My thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in my grandfather's photographs. He would be so very pleased to know that his work is appreciated.
