I started in photography at the age of twelve, learning the basics in a B&W darkroom. Since I learned darkroom skills before shooting skills I gravitated toward the photographic style of Ansel Adams. I've added other mentors over the years: Bob Arnold, John Fielder and David Muench.

My love of airplanes, especially Warbirds, comes from being raised as an "Air Force Brat". Mix in Sky King and the 1949 movie "Twelve O'Clock High" as a kid and I was hooked.

A well-respected portrait photographer, Ed Decroce, Sr. once told me the secret to successful portraiture was "to love your subject". Well, I love airplanes and over 50 years ago I fell in love with the Colorado landscape. Hopefully, when you view my images you'll feel a little bit of the love I have for the subjects of my own "portraiture".
