Been taking photos since 1997, got a Kodak Ektralite 110 for christmass, then the next year an OM2. So about 20 years of photography and still not any better, but enjoy taking photos just the same. As a student of philosophy I tend to find a metaphysical relationship between truth and photography. Even though you can see and feel a photograph you can't always see or feel what was happening at that moment it was taken. I think it is best not to assume what the image is but to try to understand the reason why it was captured. Which most of the time contains no absolute idea or truth but just simply aesthetically pleasing at the time.
The American photographer focuses to hard on the truth and the perfection of a form that their photography must also capture that form with the same purity. That's one reason why so many people worry so much on perfect contrast from center to the corners, perfect sharpness, DOF, the. Gear they have or must have eventually.
