I served in the Air Force on B-52's from 1976-1980. Graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1986. Worked several summers during college for the Milwaukee Railroad on Mtce. of Way gangs. Upon graduation, started working for BN Railroad in St. Paul and got married. We moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1990. In 1995, moved to Blytheville, AR in a BNSF field sales position but back to Fort Worth in 1997. I was a Car Fleet Director in the Equipment Management group in Ft. Worth from 1997 through 2018. I have managed all of BNSF's freight car fleets. In 2019 our group moved to the Service Design team and I became the Director of Fleet Planning responsible for the long-term strategy, operating & capital budgets of all of the BNSF car fleets including Intermodal, Auto, Coal, Grain, & Merchandise revenue fleets as well as the Engineering & Mtce. of Way fleets totaling approximately 95,000 railcars. I was the Director of Fleet Planning from 2019 through the summer of 2022 when I retired from BNSF. Then my wife found our dream home on the upper Mississippi River in Maiden Rock, WI and we moved up in April of 2023. My wife and I are ecstatic that both of our daughters are out of college and off the payroll, the oldest daughter working at railcar builder Greenbrier in Portland, OR after a stint at BNSF in the Finance Dept. for about two years. Our youngest daughter is a Research Compliance Officer at Texas Health Sciences in Ft. Worth.

In addition to railroading, I enjoy the Great Lakes laker boat fleet and my wife and I are avid hikers/climbers spending vacations in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, and over the past several years, including hiking and guiding novice hikers on about a dozen different trails deep in the back country of Grand Canyon National Park.
