Artist Statement

I see drawing as a quest to articulate the subconscious through a delight in simple materials and the process of mark making. The drawing activity is in itself the subject matter and is the result of a developing relationship with surface, material, form, line, gesture. Intuition dictates the point at which to indulge obsessive tendencies or show restraint.

For me drawing is a form of thinking, working out and realising a private moment and then just allowing it to exist. A multitude of visual influences and ideas flow in and out of the course of making the work. The results are deliberately open, suggestive and playful.
