My name is Nigel Thompson and I am in my late fifties. After a career in the book trade I am now a carer for my wife.

I never regarded myself as a photographer in fact I only took photographs at family birthdays of days out with my children. This New Year 2015 I decided to take up photography as a hobby and borrowed my daughters Fuji Camera, I then bought my current Canon camera off my son.

I have to admit that I love it ! I began to realise that in my past I was a very unobservant person and through photography I've completely changed, and now notice everything.

I realise my limitations and would never achieve a professional level, but its the enjoyment that is more important to me.

I also feel that I've joined a new family with many Flickr members that comment, favour and correspond with me, many of which are wonderful photographers. I look forward to many a year of observing many wonderful photographs and meeting new friends.

I would also like to say that I live in Cardiff and I'm a very proud Welshman, and hopefully I can share some of my beautiful country with Flickr members throughout the world.
