"We must unlearn the constellations to see the stars" Jack Gilbert
To see - easy yet difficult. Very often (as adult) our vision is superimposed by "images" or cliché views of what we see.
It is a real challenge to regain an original reaction to the photographic subject. "Listen to your eyes" is another quotation (I don't know by who) which describes that quite well.
If this works, photography can be a great way to connect to the world around you and with yourself. For this, I love photography.
My background: I'm a graphic designer, started doing (anolog) photography in a more serious way while studying. My first camera as a kid was a Voigländer vsl1. I bought myself a Nikon FG-20 as a student with a Nikon 55 mm Macro lens, which I still use quite a lot. Even though I was quite a photography enthusiast as a student, I somehow lost track, when photography went digital. I was doing graphic design as a job some of the time, had two young kids and did photography only for keeping memories of family and holidays.
After a redundancy, I had time at my hands again and decided to get a proper camera again. So I got my Nikon D7100 in 2015 and somehow found Flickr (I think a friend had registered there and lost interest soon afterwards). But I stayed ... and wouldn't want to miss it any more.
Everything what I had learned about photography as a student was back immediately and I'm learning so much more all the time - by doing - and I get incredible inspiration and motivation from you Flickr-people!! Thank you very much!
I really appreciate all your comments and favs and usually try to visit your photostream or to comment honestly on yours. Sorry if I sometimes don't manage.
