I am a self-taught painter, working mainly in pastels and oil paints. My art school was the library, youtube, the museums in New York and London, and above all, experimentation. I like to keep things simple: I use a restricted palette of color, make my paints, mediums, and supports out of easily available materials. My painting emphasizes line and color. They are visually simplified, like the art of a child, yet profoundly engaged with the painting's subject, materials, and ideas. Many of my works borrow from ancient art and the art of children. I am happy when I paint.
