In 2009 I moved to the Pacific Northwest from the Great Plains because of the natural beauty and my love of hiking. I started carrying a point and shoot camera during my hikes, thus starting my interest in photography. One of my phots was on the cover of the BNSF Railroad calendar, soon after I upgraded to a Nikon D5100, then a Nikon D7200, now a Nikon D810 is what I carry these days. Photography has been a slow learning process as I have gone the self taught route because of my on-call job. But I'm now retired from the railroad, and thanks to online resources I'm learning how to post process and improve my camera skills. My photos have been in several calendars, a print magazine, and I have finished or won several contests. In 2019 I did a photo shoot for the National Forest Foundation. That was a new experience for me, because I was photographing a crew doing trail maintenance. I usually try to avoid having people in my photos, so photographing people as the primary subject was something new. Thank you for viewing my photos.
