I mostly like photos that are taken not made (e.g. capturing the essence of someone or something in a moment, not constructing a highly contrived image in a studio or programme). To that end, I like and shoot mainly street, potrait, photo-journalism, travel and landscapes / nature.

I tend to take photos of the places I go in my travels with family (holidays and day-trips) and work (in international development and teacher education), as well as everyday life around me. I love my family, nature, architecture, people, travel, walking, sailing, cycling, dogs and children... so these tend to be the things I photograph.

I'm very much a beginner and a learner. I'm learning a lot from my son as well as from other people's photographs on Flickr. My Fuji X100 is my first ever 'proper' camera, a treat to myself and an homage to my father who recently passed away, whose Lieca M3 was his most treasured possession, when I was a young child.
